Amy Stevens at Crane Arts, video

Inliquid is now curating shows in the lobby of the Crane Arts Building. Amy Stevens' show, Confections, is the first of many more to come. This is one sweet installation with real tasty cakes made by Amy. The exhibition also features photographs, still life arrangements, wallpaper and huge red painted walls. Since the show is in the public space of the Crane Building, you can visit during Inliquid's normal business hours, or during openings at the other spaces in the building that include the new Nexus space, as well as the Ice Box. See it before it closes on March 25th.

Leslie Atik at The Painted Bride, video

Inliquid has presented numerous exhibitions at The Painted Bride over the past seven years. Leslie Atik's current show is about the deeper meaning of language. Ms. Atik uses a very large black board that she marks in a continuous stream of text and then encodes using paper labels and colored pins. The effect is dramatic, the mood somber.

I see a pattern here

The pattern I see is that the show in the previous post and this one are thematic group exhibitions curated by artists. Both shows also include some of the areas finest artists who are not normally shown in the same space since they are associated with different galleries. That this is possible is to the galleries and artists credit. I can't wait to see both, they seem a step above most recent group exhibitions that I can remember.
